What equipment is used for rare earth extraction and separation? Is it the mixer settler or the centrifugal extractor? This needs to be determined in combination with the specific needs of the customer. Rare earth extraction equipment belongs to the hydrometallurgical industry. In the past, rare earth extraction was mostly done with mixer settler and other equipment. Nowadays, the old generation of equipment cannot keep up with the requirements of extraction, and many companies have begun to replace new equipment--centrifugal extractor.

The mixer settler is a traditional extraction equipment that relies on natural gravity for stratification. With the improvement of technology and the expansion of production, enterprises began to consider new extraction equipment--CWL-M centrifugal extractor. This equipment is a new liquid-liquid extraction and separation equipment developed and produced by Zhengzhou Tiei Extraction, and has been widely used in the extraction of many metal elements in hydrometallurgy.

Working principle of CWL-M centrifugal extractor for rare earth extraction and separation

  1. Mixing and mass transfer process
The light and heavy phase solutions enter the mixing zone inside the shell from two feed pipes in a certain proportion. With the help of the rotation of the drum, the two phases are quickly mixed and dispersed through the turbine disc and impeller, and the two phase solutions are fully transferred to complete the mixing and mass transfer process.
  2. Two-phase separation process
The mixed liquid enters the drum under the action of the vortex disk. In the cavity formed by the web, the mixed liquid quickly rotates synchronously with the drum. Under the action of centrifugal force, the heavy phase liquid with high density gradually moves away from the center of the drum and moves toward the drum wall during the upward flow; the light phase liquid with low density gradually moves away from the drum wall and moves toward the center. The clarified two-phase liquids finally enter the collection chamber through their respective weir plates and flow out from the light and heavy phase outlets, completing the two-phase separation process.

Advantages of CWL-M centrifugal extractor for hydrometallurgy

  1. Under the action of centrifugal force, the separation effect is better and the mass transfer efficiency is higher.
  2. Centrifugal extractor can be applied to a variety of mixed structures, even systems that are easily emulsified.
  3. The material used is good. Centrifugal extractor is made of perfluorinated material and is corrosion-resistant.
  4. The contact time between the two phases is short, saving the investment cost of the extractant.
  5. Centrifugal extractor occupies a relatively small area, saving space and cost.

Centrifugal extractor is used for rare earth extraction and separation. How to choose the appropriate equipment model, material, etc. needs to be selected based on the actual situation of the customer. Welcome contact us for details.
