Isopropyl ether and isopropyl alcohol are widely used as organic solvents in the chemical, pharmaceutical and other industries, but their presence in wastewater can cause environmental pollution. Therefore, it is of great significance to find an effective separation and recovery method. As an efficient liquid-liquid extraction and separation equipment, CWL-M centrifugal extractor uses centrifugal force to achieve rapid separation of two liquids of different densities. It is suitable for the separation and recovery of isopropyl ether and isopropyl alcohol. In the separation process of isopropyl ether and isopropyl alcohol, a suitable extractant (such as ethylene glycol) can be selected to increase the relative volatility between components and destroy the constant boiling composition, thereby facilitating separation.
Process Of Centrifugal Extractor Separation and Recovery
- Pre-treat the organic wastewater containing isopropyl ether and isopropyl alcohol to remove impurities and suspended matter to ensure the smooth progress of the subsequent extraction process.
- Using ethylene glycol as the extraction agent, it can effectively improve the separation efficiency of isopropyl ether and isopropyl alcohol because of its good selectivity and stability.
- Inject the pretreated organic wastewater and ethylene glycol extractant into the centrifugal extractor at a certain ratio. Use the motor to drive the drum to rotate at high speed, and the turbine disc and impeller are used to quickly mix and disperse the two phases to complete the mixing and mass transfer process.
- The mixed liquid enters the drum under the action of the vortex disk. Under the action of centrifugal force, the heavy phase liquid with high specific gravity (mainly containing isopropyl ether and extractant) gradually moves away from the center of the drum and toward the drum wall during the upward flow; the light phase liquid with low specific gravity (mainly containing isopropyl alcohol and water) gradually moves away from the drum wall and toward the center.
- The clarified two-phase liquids finally enter the collection chamber through their respective weir plates and are led out of the machine through the guide pipes, completing the two-phase separation process.
- The separated isopropyl ether and isopropyl alcohol can be recycled and reused respectively.
Using the centrifugal extractor to separate and recover isopropyl ether and isopropyl alcohol from organic wastewater is an efficient and feasible method. The separation efficiency and economic benefits can be further improved by selecting appropriate extractants, optimizing operating conditions, and strengthening equipment selection and maintenance.
